Publicada el 1943, amb les il.lustracions del mateix autor, és l’obra més coneguda d’A. Saint-Exupéry. Es tracta d’un llarg conte on un aviador, que s’havia perdut al desert, explica el viatge d’un petit príncep per un univers imaginari però proper, i els encontres que manté amb diferents personatges. És una gran faula sobre la recerca permanent de l’home i que posa de manifest, amb un to poètic, alguns dels trets que ens fan humans com l’amistat, la bondat, la fidelitat, la tendresa, la imaginació, l’entusiasme pel coneixement, la por, la vanitat, les obsessions…Actualment, és una lectura gairebé obligada per als nens de tot el món, però també és apropiada per als més grans.
